Northeast India contributes to being one of the mega biodiversity hotspot in India. It is one of the richest storehouses of plant diversity. It is the home of the rarest species of the plant family. The region exhibits a wide range of orchids, bamboos, Artemisia, canes, berries, etc. Among cereals, it is a contributor to wheat and rice. Spice production is also huge like cardamom, mustard seeds, turmeric specially Lakadong turmeric of Meghalaya (highest curcumin content in the world), ginger, and pepper. With this huge resource of plant biodiversity, an enormous work lies ahead for the ayurvedic fraternity to bring out the effectiveness of these resources to the mass in a scientific manner. Research opportunities should be dragged in more and drugs should be evaluated for their role in the human body. With the recent advancements of AYUSH globally and investment opportunities coming up in the sector with global industries coming forward, it is the golden period for everyone to look into the areas with their scientific and marketing strategies.

In both the areas, an integrated or collaborative approach is required. Signing MOUs with the technological giants will help incorporate the tools for digging out the hidden knowledge of Ayurveda with the available resources of the area. Production of raw materials should be increased and availability of nutritious local processed food should be made available with huge marketing strategies. Diverse local cuisines of this area have huge health benefits, and only if it is processed and marketed properly, it will come to mainland India.

Satellite research units can be developed in all the states of the NE India, which will help and coordinate with all the medical doctors working in the field to carry out their research projects, which may have led to the production of new drugs/products as well as to develop patents along with start-up endeavors. Hands-on training and workshops can be conducted vigorously to keep all the doctors working in the field updated with modern technologies, so that the ideas in the mind can be the next big discoveries in the industry.
